"EMOJIS ARE ELEMENTS OF GRAPHICS", said a communication student in Olabisi Onabanjo University.
A student from the department of mass communication, Olabisi Onabanjo University claims that Emojis are not only expressions that are used to compliment texts but also , are elements of graphics in communication.
Adeosun Oluwatobiloba is a 200 level student . When asked about how he views the usage of emojis as a means of communication , he said " I love using emojis to compliment my texts. I think it helps make text lovely and lays a lasting
impression on the recipient of the information. He further said he enjoyed using emojis but it has never occurred to him that there is a specific day for emojis celebration . He said, Emojis have enhanced communication in many ways making reference to Editing and Graphic of communication. He continued by saying " As a Communicator "your text can't just be based on typography , but with the intersection of visual elements such as emojis helps to give the reader the expected impression that is intended and it makes the sender and the receiver
actively involved in the conversation".
Another senior student in the same department, a 400 level student known as Sodiq made a comment about the usage of emojis in communication. In his words he said " Most times, my view about emojis is that, without its usage, words would appear unattractive". He further said emojis have enhanced communication in our world today .
Daniel Victoria, a 200 level student of the same department also said
" I've always texted with emojis because emojis are great ways of expressing one’s emotions that text might not be able to convey. I didn’t know there’s a celebration day for it. I think there are times when you don’t need to say much with emojis, you just send your emojis and people immediately understand it . It’s a very effective way of communicating because a lot of people are familiar with it".
